April & May is red clay season for the ATP & WTA professional tennis players...and now it's red clay time for MTG players as well!
This event is for all levels of play. Beginners, intermediate and advance players are welcome. As with our Matthew Shepard fundraiser, this will be a round robin event. The emphasis will be on social tennis and civic camaraderie. No competition per se... just fun tennis for a good cause!
A light continental style breakfast will be served beforehand. No NYC permits required for playing this event. Playing format will be determined based on how many people register to play.
All proceeds will go to Green Outlook, a green campaign initiative that will help make Riverside Park (and the area surrounding the clay courts) more beautiful and ecofriendly. For more information on the Green Outlook project please click on the following link: http://greenoutlook.info/
Daniel Arzuaga Is coordinating this event. Please contact Daniel @ firstname.lastname@example.org or 646.417.0910 with any questions you may have.
Come experience the excitement of sliding on clay! Come make new tennis friends along the way! Come make a difference on this very special 'red clay' day!
4/25/13: Do to weather conditions this spring, not all the courts at RCTA are currently ready for play. MTG has three courts confirmed for this event. If weather conditions change (rain is required to pack down the clay on the the remaining unfinished courts)...we may have another two courts to play on. For that reason, there is a wait list currently open for this event. I will advise wait list recipients 72 hours in advance if it is likely for them to make the cut for the event.
