*Come back in Spring 2017 for info about the 2017 Marsha Day Club Championships!*
Marsha Day MTG Club Championships - Since 1997, our Club Championships have been an annual celebration of the spirit of our league. In 2001, the tournament was officially renamed the Marsha Day MTG Club Championships in memory of Marsha Day, a community activist and former MTG board member.
The Marsha Day MTG Club Championships is open only to members of the Metropolitan Tennis Group, and is not a GLTA Tournament.
ALL ENTRANTS WILL NEED TO HAVE A CURRENT MTG OR USTA RATING (WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS). IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CURRENT ONE, YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND ONE OF OUR EVENTS THAT HAVE A RATER PRIOR TO THIS TOURNAMENT.
The 2017 Marsha Day MTG Club Championships will run over Memorial Day Weekend, May 27–29. Match play will start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28. We start with singles matches in the morning so if you are playing singles and doubles, you may have early morning matches for singles and have doubles matches later in the evening. As per GLTA rules, you will not be scheduled to play more than 2 matches for one event in any given day.
Events: Players may only sign up for a maximum of 2 events.
Doubles Partners: If you do not have a doubles partner and would like to be paired up, please email MTGClubChampionships@gmail.com
As we started a few years ago, we are doing something different in terms of divisions. Divisions will now be based on your rating and not the GLTA divisions, so there will be divisions for >3.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and >4.5.
Draws will be posted online and emailed the evening of May 23, 2016.
All matches will be played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Directions to the USTA by public transportation or by car can be found here. For updated subway service advisories visit the MTA.
Proceeds Will Benefit the Following Charities:
Marsha Day Memorial Fund:
