                                           MTG's marquee event is back!

A superb way to play singles matches, find new hitting partners and make friends along the way.  All levels are welcome.

This year's the Summer Ladder runs from Friday, May 12, 2023 to Monday, September 4, 2023. Registrants arrange their own matches and play up to three per week.  The playing week begins on a Sunday and ends on the following Saturday. At the end of the summer, a playoff will determine the 2023 Summer Ladder champion.

There is a $10 registration fee. Following receipt of your fees, you will be sent a welcome message with the official rules and a link for joining the GTN Network, the  ladder software program where your will record your match scores.

**You must be a current active MTG member to play the 2023 Summer Ladder.**

Please contact Daniel Arzuaga at arzuaga_daniel@yahoo.com or text at (646) 417-0910 with any questions you may have.

    Let the games begin!!!

    ***Update Regarding MTG’s 2023 Summer Ladder(s)****

Given last year's success we will again have two (2) separate and concurrent summer ladder competitions.  One ladder will be for 3.0 players and below.  The second player will be 3.5 players and above.  We will place everyone according to their self rating in their MTG profile.  Please contact us ASAP if you are concerned you are not in the right playing division.

When you register for the ladder, please look for a subsequent e-mail that invites you to join the Global Tennis Network (“GTN”), the software program that we employ to tally the scores and rankings.  There is no additional cost to join that network, but you must join GTN in order to partake in the ladder competition.  (If you have played the ladder before, there is no need to re-register.)

Registration and enrollment for the ladder is a "rolling admissions" process.  The competition begins on Friday, May 12, 2023 but you can join after that date at any point during the summer.  May  12th is a "commencement date"...not a deadline or cutoff for registration.

See you on the courts soon!

    Pride Month has arrived!

This Sunday, June 4 kicks off the season with Queens Pride in Jackson Heights, themed “Strength In Solidarity.” This the first event in NYC’s 2023 Pride calendar and marks the 30th anniversary of Queens Pride. The festival organizers will be pulling out all the stops with an afternoon filled with entertainment, musical and dance performers..

As all tennis fans know, Flushing/Queens is the home of the USTA’s Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (NTC), named after the legendary tennis icon and gay rights activist. USTA is elevating its long-standing commitment to the LGBTQ community by sponsoring MTG’s booth at the Queens Pride Festival on Sunday afternoon. This is the first MTG-USTA collaboration and an opportunity to promote tennis to a crowd of 30,000 festival-goers.

The Board is looking for a few volunteers to help staff the MTG-USTA booth from 12pm-6pm this Sunday, June 4, alongside our board members Catherine Bussey, Eddie Liao, and Moh Yang. We’ll have a table stocked with both MTG flyers, USTA information, racquets, trophies and other paraphernalia to get people excited about tennis, MTG, and our collaboration with USTA. Now all we need is some friendly members to help us greet booth visitors and tell them why you’re part of the MTG family!

If you’d like to celebrate Pride and your love of tennis at the same time, please add your name to the list and select the time(s) you can help out. You will receive a follow-up email confirmation with exact meeting location.

    Hope to see you there!

    Cheers!

    MTG Board of Directors
