    Take your tennis game to the next level during the MTG Club Championships! Our exclusive OJFIT Tennis Clinic offers professional instruction designed to enhance your skills and strategy on the court.

    This special clinic takes place alongside our tournament, giving you the opportunity to fine-tune your game. Participants can be in the tournament and must be MTG Members.

    Coach Oli has played on the challenger circuit, achieving a UTR of 13. He currently coaches players intermediate and above, including players on the challenger circuit.

    Sessions will be an hour-long and scheduled taking into account tournament participation. If you are in the tournament, the tournament will take priority.

    Intermediate Level

    Perfect for: Players hungry to improve at the 3.0 to 3.5 level.

    Focus areas: Clinic will be in a doubles format with drills to work on technique and match play


    Clinic Format:

    Net Skills & Volleys

    • Reaction volleys at the net in rotation
    • Overhead smash + recovery drill (players rotate through quickly)

    Movement & Recovery

    • "Baseline recoveries": feed balls wide, players recover back to middle
    • Net approach & recover – approach shot, volley, recover back

    ‍ Doubles Point Play Drills

    2v2 conditioned points starting with underhand feed

    • Focus on doubles positioning (one up/one back, both up, etc.)
    • Rotate players every few points → high energy, no downtime

    Competition Games

    Fun team scoring: teams of 3 rotate in, first to X points

    Focus on working together and creating pressure situations

    Advanced Level

    Perfect for: Competitive players 4.0+ looking for feedback on their technique and to refine match strategy.

    Focus areas: Match psychology, technique refinement, and tournament preparation.

    Conditioned Point Play with 2v2 doubles rotations

    Live tactical feedback on:

    • Court positioning
    • Shot selection under pressure
    • Transitioning to the net
    • Communication & teamwork

    Point-by-point breakdown to give players real match insights

    Team 2v2 format with singles point rotations

    Coach feedback on:

    • Constructing points from the baseline
    • Defending vs attacking situations
    • Shot patterns & exploiting weaknesses

    The MTG Club Championships Returns: October 11–13, 2025

    We’re beyond excited to bring back our beloved tennis tournament — for the first time since 2017 — at the legendary Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open!

    This is more than just a tournament — it’s a reunion, a celebration, and a chance to step onto the same iconic courts as the pros, surrounded by passionate players from our community.

    Get ready for three action-packed days of spirited matches, friendly rivalries, and unforgettable moments — all in a welcoming environment that balances fun, fitness, and competition.

    What to Expect:

    • Singles, Doubles, or Both — with split levels allowed (up to 1 level difference)
    • Compete in skill-based divisions for fair, balanced play
    • Stay in the game with a consolation draw after your first singles loss — more tennis, more fun!
    • Help us revive Mixed Doubles by expressing your interest!
    • Connect, laugh, and compete with fellow members who share your love of the game
    • A social program to connect with your fellow players off the court during the weekend

    Whether you're new to tournaments or a seasoned match player, this is your chance to challenge yourself, make new friends, and be part of something special — all on one of the most famous tennis stages in the world.

      Please join us on the indoor har-tru courts of Roosevelt Island Racquet Club (RIRC) for a night of drills and doubles play. We will take three courts with 12 players and one instructor for rotating drills and doubles play.

      Social Get Together Follows Tennis Play -- Dinner and Drinks at Granny Annie's (425 Main Street, Roosevelt Island)

      Playing level guidelines: this event is designed for players that typically meet one of the following criteria:

      • Rated 4.0 or higher by USTA
      • Play “A” or higher in GLTA events and have won matches at this level
      • Play "B" in GLTA events and have reached a final at this level

      Please contact the event organizer if you are a self-rated player at the 4.0 level that does not meet the criteria above and would like to confirm whether this is a suitable event for you.

      • Payment must be tendered at the time of event registration. 
      • Cancellation must be received 72 hours prior to the event in order to receive a refund. As a courtesy, please notify the coordinator immediately, so that we can notify those on the wait-list or make alternate arrangements to ensure an even number of players. MTG's no-show policy for tennis events will apply to this event.
      • Wait-list registration is available once the event is full. If you want to play and the event is full, it is highly recommended to add yourself to the wait-list.

      Join us for 2-hours of doubles & drills, plus social after!

      • 2 hours of tennis played on Har-Tru courts at the conveniently located Roosevelt Island Racquet Club (RIRC).
      • 3 courts and 1 instructor   2 courts of doubles play and 1 court of drills and games with an instructor
      • 12 players, rotate every 40 mins – you will rotate at least one time during the two hours; due to the total number of players, some players will not rotate every time.
      • Playing level 3.0 - 4.0 welcome – You will be matched with a group equal to or close to your playing level. Guidelines on playing level are here: https://metrotennisgroup.com/ntrp
      • Limited lockers available (bring a lock), showers, and water machines on or near the courts (bring a water bottle). 
      • Arrive 15 minutes before the event starts – all players should allow time to sign in at the front desk and check in with the MTG event coordinator for court assignments and further instructions.
      • After event social (optional)  – After tennis play, some players like to grab food and drinks at Granny Annie's (425 Main Street, Roosevelt Island). It's steps away from the courts!

      Directions by Subway:  The best way to get there is using the F train or the Roosevelt Tram (60th and 2nd Ave). Please check the F schedule day of as there are often changes in train schedules or delays, especially on weekends.

Tennis instruction includes seven hours of group instruction, plus an individual half-hour private lesson, led by USTA-certified professional instructors.

      • Seven hours of group instruction (four players per court) from USTA-certified instructors
      • Individual half-hour private lesson
      • First-class dining
      • Saturday-night happy hour before dinner with free wine and beer from 6:45-7:30pm

      Cost

      • $725/person for double occupancy (players with active MTG membership on the first day of this event receive a $50 discount on this rate for a final rate of $675), plus tax and tip for dining room and housekeeping
      • $150 additional fee for single occupancy for the entire weekend
      • Non-players: $175/night, plus tax and tip for dining room and housekeeping

      • Restringing services from the onsite pro shop
      • Massages

      Logistics

      • Reserve directly with Total Tennis at 1-800-221-6496. $300 deposit required to reserve your spot.
      • Check-in starts at 5pm on Friday and includes dinner.

      • In order to promote an inclusive and welcoming experience for all MTG players, we have agreed with the team at Total Tennis to limit pre-formed groups to 3 players per court. We kindly ask to keep this in mind as you plan your participation.
