    Join us at Roosevelt Island Racquet Club (RIRC) for a round robin mini-tournament

    What is a round robin mini-tournament you may ask?

    • All genders are encouraged to enter. 
    • The round robin round will be composed of 15-20-minute intervals where each player plays each other. 
    • At the conclusion of the round robin round, the players with the most games won will play each other in a final. 

    Fun, Social and Competitive: This event is open to 3.0-4.0 players. That range of players produces players of many different stripes. So, in the spirit of true competition, be ready to play the "moonballer," the drop shot king and everyone in-between.

    Doubles Draw Info: If you want to play with a specific partner, note that in your registration. If you don't have a partner, we'll do our best to match you with another entrant. 

    Limited space: The available spots in the singles & doubles draws will be limited, so register soon! If the event fills up, don't hesitate to go on the waitlist, and we'll explore getting additional courts. 

    Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start time. We will meet in the lobby area with couches and the TV, near the front desk.

    RIRC Directions and Parking Instructions - The club is easily accessible with many transportation options.

    Winter Doubles League 2019 / 2020 

    The annual Winter Doubles League is back and will be starting soon! All levels are welcome to compete, and any two players can enter as partners, regardless of gender.  Divisions will be created based on playing level of the pairs.

    WDL is open to current MTG members only. Renew or Join Today!


    Start Date: November 17th, 2019

    End Date: March 29th, 2019

    Match Times: (Matches will be held on Sundays)

    Some matches will start at 6pm, some at 8pm.

    Each pair will get a mixture of times.


    Location:  Billie Jean King National Tennis Center

    There will be an awards presentation party at the end of the season!


    The fee for each player for the entire season is $182 with each doubles team playing a total of seven (7) matches. That's only $26 per match. 

    As in USTA, each match is 2-of-3 sets, with a SuperTiebreak in lieu of a third set, with a 2-hour time limit (including a 10 minute warm-up).  

    If you don't have a partner, the coordinators will be happy to pair you with a player of similar playing level.

    Online entry closes AT 6PM on Monday, November 4th.

      You may request up to 3 "unavailable" dates. Each pair will also be granted one reschedule of a match after the season's schedule has been posted. You can also request having some double-header matches (playing at 6pm and 8pm on the same night) to reduce trips to NTC.  We also have more details about the rules posted on the WDL homepage on the GLTA site.

    FYI - We have more courts each week than in prior years and have fewer nights of play, so the season should move a little more quickly than before.  

    WDL is being hosted this year by Bill Bradley and Christopher Lucas, feel free to reach out to them if you have any questions.

    MTG's popular tennis "boot camp" weekend!

    Great tennis facility located 2.5 hours north of NYC. Ten hours of group instruction (four to a group, plus an individual half-hour private lesson) led by USTA-certified professional instructors. First-class dining, double-room occupancy included in price ($508.00). Also included are a hot tub and sauna, a recreation lodge with pool, ping pong and foosball (for your other competitive game needs), and a Saturday-night happy hour before dinner.

    Restringing available on site (massages too) for additional fees.

    Carpools will be arranged. Check-in starts at 5 pm on Friday..

    Reserve directly with Total Tennis at 800-221-6496. Ask for Ellen. Minimum $200 deposit required to reserve your spot. 

    **Total cost of the weekend (with MTG Group discount) is $508.00.  (Everything is included except a tip for your instructor...recommended amount is $50).  Non-player rate (if you want to bring your non tennis playing significant other) is $125 per night.**

    BEGINNERS TENNIS PARTY

    (Never played before to advanced beginners only)

    Beginners = 1.0, 1.5, 2.0

    Advanced Beginners = 2.5

    Sign up quickly for two hours of group instruction and play led by a pro. 

    Afterward, join us for a light meal, snack, or
    beverage at local bar and restaurant.  

    Surface: Indoor Hard Court

    Facility: Manhattan Plaza Racquet Club (MPRC) located
    450 W. 43rd St., between 9th & 10th Aves. (212-594-0554).

    • Directions via train: A,C,E to 42nd St.& 8th Ave. Exit on the west side of 8th Ave. Walk west along 43rd St. The entrance is on the south side of 43rd St., between a florist and the Food Emporium. Ring the buzzer, wait for a response, and proceed up the steps to the next door, where you will automatically be buzzed through. Go up one flight to the entry.

    Meeting: We will gather in the lobby/lounge. Please arrive by 7:45 pm to allow yourself time to change in the locker rooms. After we are finished playing at 10, you are welcome to join us for a social get together at a nearby restaurant.  Its a fun way to get to know each other better.

    Food/Beverage: No food or drink will be provided by MTG for this event. Feel free to bring your own drinks, but please be careful on the courts. There are usually water coolers positioned at each court with disposable cups.

    Lockers: There are full locker room facilities available with showers but with limited availability to lockers. If you want to use a locker, please remember to bring a lock. Please note the lockers are for members of the club, so there might not be a locker available on the day of our event, but generally there are lockers available for use.

    Cancellations: There is a 48-hour cancellation policy for this event. We are unable to provide any refunds with less than 48 hours prior cancellation notice, nor can we apply the cost to a future event.

    Payment is non transferable. As a courtesy, we would appreciate notification of cancellation so we may adjust court assignments if necessary.
